A Glimmering Start to the Season
The holiday season officially shines bright with Holiday Lights of Ellijay! Open every evening from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Lions Club Fairgrounds, this massive display is perfect for a scenic stroll or a cozy, slow drive with the family.
Weekday & Weekend Happenings
Our local wineries, breweries, and venues are hosting a fantastic lineup:
- Music & Merriment at Cartecay River Brewing: Join the fun for Singo Music Bingo on Wednesday, December 3rd (6-8 PM).
- Step Back in Time at Tabor House: On Saturday, December 6th (11 AM – 3 PM), experience Christmas and Crafts with live demonstrations of Cherokee basket weaving, doll making, fabric arts, and food preparation from the early 1900s. Refreshments are included—a perfect outing for the whole family.
- Holiday Shopping at Buckley Vineyards: Also on Saturday the 6th (12 PM – 6 PM), browse the Holiday Market with dozens of vendors, while the vineyard is open for tastings and drinks.
- A Grown-Up Gathering at House of Applejay: Cap off your Saturday (3 PM – 5 PM) at their adults-only St. Nicholas Event (21+), featuring festive drinks and a visit from Saint Nick himself.
Free & Festive Fun at the Library
The Gilmer County Public Library has a wonderful schedule of free activities for kids and teens:
- Monday, December 1 (5:30 – 7:30 PM): Meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, enjoy performances by choirs from Mountain View and Ellijay Elementary, make festive crafts, and sip hot chocolate. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
- Saturday, December 6th: Join a Tiny Paint & Hot Cocoa Sip for teens. Paint on canvas and enjoy a warm holiday drink. No registration required; children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
Laughs & Live Music with Gilmer Arts
