ELLIJAY, GA — The Ellijay Chess Club is set to make its debut on Saturday, March 8, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Hemlock Bazaar. Founded by Augustus Lamey, a High School student from Gilmer County, the club welcomes players of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to seasoned players.
The inaugural meeting will offer casual play, beginner lessons, and strategy discussions. Chess sets will be provided, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own if they have them.
Augustus hopes the club will become a regular community gathering, fostering a love for the game and bringing people together.
